Good afternoon,
We need your help, again, to get the word out about the Frontier Harvest Fund because we are soliciting applications for Round 2. Please post in your town hall and share the attached flyer with anyone who may be interested.
The Franklin County Legislature and Franklin County Economic Development Corporation partnered to secure funding to establish the Frontier Harvest Fund, a grant program designed to support small farms, value-added producers, and agritourism businesses across Franklin County. The fund offers $5,000–$35,000 in grant funding to eligible start-ups and existing businesses for equipment, furniture, livestock & inventory, marketing, salaries, and hardware & software. Interested businesses should complete the online eligibility form by March 27, 2026.
Businesses with questions should feel free to reach out to my colleague Rachel Child at rachel@adirondackfrontier.com or 518-481-8211.

Each Year the Constable Veterans Committee has been decorating the Constable Veterans Park. The Veterans Park was started in the Fall of 2000 and was completed in the Spring of 2001. The Committee meets about 3 to 4 times per year to get the flower beds ready for Summer, put up banners at Memorial Day and Veterans Day and then in November decorate the Park with Christmas lights for December.
We replace the American and POW flags each year. We use to have 13 active members but currently only have 4 active members who are all getting up in age. We are looking for new volunteers to help maintain the Park in the future. You do not have to be a Veteran to join. If you are interested contact, Mike Shea, Dick Onufer, Ted Robideau or Ernie Daoust

"Over Half of Charges on Utility Customers Bills Are Outside of the Company’s Control"
New bill explainer details how over half of bill charges are government mandates and fees that are out of NYSEG’s control.
NYSEG continues to ensure transparency and accountability to its customers by highlighting every part of a customer’s bill.
Binghamton, NY — May 15, 2025 — New York State Energy & Gas (NYSEG) today released a graphic that will help residential customers better understand their bills and continues the Company’s mission of being transparent.
The bill explainer provides information on various charges that appear on customers' bills including the Company’s delivery charge and several additional charges. As shown, some of these addtional charges are beyond the Company's control, such as the system benefits charge and the supply charge. The system benefits charge funds activities conducted by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) as required by regulatory authorities. Supply is a pass-through cost influenced by market drivers that NYSEG does not control nor profit from.
In addition to these charges, the explainer also breaks down parts of the basic service charge, delivery charge, and transition charge. While these charges are on NYSEG bills, certain portions are mandated by government programs and taxes. Specifically, about one-quarter of the basic service and delivery charge is directed towards these governmental obligations.
The remaining amount of the delivery charges are crucial for covering the costs associated with delivering safe and reliable power to customers. These costs encompass a wide range of operational expenses, including but not limited to the salaries and benefits of line workers, the maintenance and replacement of electric poles, vegetation management to prevent outages, the upkeep of vehicle fleets, and the ongoing modernization and maintenance of the power grid.
The bill explainer is part of the Company’s mission to not only be transparent with its customers, but to increase awareness on how to interpret line items. NYSEG encourages any customer who has a question about their bill to call 800-572-1111.

Of these millions of death reports received each year, less than one-third of 1 percent are erroneously reported deaths that need to be corrected.
Social Security imposter scams continue to be widespread across the United States. Scammers use tactics to deceive you into providing sensitive information or money. If you receive a suspicious letter, text, email, or call, do not respond.

When your child turns 18 years old, they legally become an adult. This is an important time to consider their financial future – especially if they need additional care into adulthood. Here are 5 things that may help you prepare for this milestone:
Today, more than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. It is a brain condition that causes problems with memory, thinking, and behavior. Since the onset of Alzheimer’s can occur in younger people before they retire, it may affect their ability to work as the disease progresses.
